Chapter Philanthropy

Sigma Kappa Sorority provides many opportunities for members to become involved in community service and philanthropic projects. Chapters across the country support Sigma Kappa philanthropies, which include the Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inherit the Earth, Gerontology, Maine Seacoast Mission, and the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alpha Gamma chapter works hard to provide community events to raise awareness and funds for these organizations as well as many service opportunities to give back to the community. As a chapter we log well over 1,000 community service hours per semester.

Alpha Gamma is very passionate about promoting our philanthropies campus wide, serving our community, and raising funds to help the organizations that are so important to our members and their families. We hope that our efforts not only make a difference in the Pullman community, but also that we can create an impact on a larger scale, nationwide.

Some of our favorite campus philanthropies we have put on as a chapter include Sketti Feed, Kick Away Kickball with Sig Kap, Sigma Slices, and Sigma Sweets, and Sigma Scoops. Sigma Slices was one our Ultra Violet philanthropies, where the chapter sold slices of pizza on our Greek Row for the Sigma Kappa Foundation. This was a fun event to connect with members in the community and raise $2,000 for the foundation. A new event this fall for our chapter was our Kick Away Alzheimer’s with Sig Kap kickball tournament. This was a kickball tournament where all of the funds from the event contributed to our walk fund. We had 12 fraternities participate in this competition, it was a great way for our chapter to promote the association while collaborating with our chapter in our community!

The Alzheimer’s Association and Gerontology is a large philanthropy in our chapter that has had a great impact on many of our members and their families. Over the course of the year we hold several different events to raise funds for the association and help with our fundraising efforts for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s that we participate in every fall. Our chapter has been the top fundraising team at our local Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Spokane, WA for the past several years. This past year our chapter raised $40,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association, we have been recognized as a top 5 fundraising chapter this year! We are very proud that we have been able to create such a large impact year after year for an association that means so much to our chapter!
